Youngsters support their local foodbank

Posted onPosted on 28th Dec

Children and staff at Mapplewells Primary and Nursery School, Sutton, collected two trolley loads of goods to donate to the Let’s All Eat foodbank in the town.

The School Council launched a Christmas Is About Tins Not Tinsel campaign in December.

Head boy Harry and head girl Beatrice presented Simon Martin, ATTFE vice-principal and one of the founding directors of the foodbank charity, with the goods donated by the school community.

Head teacher Andrew Whittle said: “Simon was very grateful for all the donations and was overwhelmed by our family’s generosity. Mapplewells is a fantastic school community, and they never fail to help when the call goes out.

“Once again they pulled out all the stops to ensure that the local foodbank had supplies to share with those who need it most.

“Thanks to all of our Mapplewells community for their donations, and to the local Alfreton Road Co-op, which loaned us the two trollies for the collection.”
