St Mary’s Church of England Primary School in Edwinstowe has been keeping children fit while having some Christmas fun during their Jingle Jog at the village’s RSPB nature reserve.
Pupils in Year 5 and 6 used the festive opportunity to develop their sports leadership skills by demonstrating warm-up activities, preparing children for their jog on either a 580m or 400m course.
Year 4 pupil Isabella said: “Every year near Christmas our Jingle Jog keeps us fit, like a fun PE lesson! It’s been really nice, and I started running with my friends but then overtook some of them. Everyone is wearing nice Christmas jumpers and also Christmas hats. I am wearing reindeer antlers.”
Lucas, who is in Year 3, paused on his circuit to comment: “I am on my fifth lap at the moment, but want to do more. Everyone is running around with smiles on their faces and encouraging the little ones. I think everyone is enjoying it.
“The older children are taking care of the younger ones, just like the teachers are taking care of us. Everyone is trying their best and having fun!”
