Bellway is preparing to start work on a new housing development in Sutton that will generate more than £2.6m in investment for the area.
A total of 300 two, three, and four-bedroom houses are to be built by Bellway on a 25-acre site off Ashland Road West in the town. These will include 30 two and three-bedroom houses designated as affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.
As part of the planning agreement, Bellway has committed to investing in services and infrastructure to support the new neighbourhood.
This will include £1.3m for primary education, £600,000 for public open space, £258,000 for sports facilities and £162,000 for healthcare.
The land has been separated into two sections. Bellway East Midlands will build 201 homes at a development called Ashlands. A further 99 will be built by Ashberry Homes, which is part of the Bellway Group, at a development to be known as Brierley View.
Steve Smith, sales director for Bellway East Midlands, said: “Ashlands and Brierley View will transform this site into a highly desirable place to live.
“We will create a sustainable new community with green open spaces, wildlife enhancements and links to the existing footpath through Brierley Forest Park, which sits within a former colliery site.
“Add to that the variety of homes on offer in a range of designs and sizes and you have something here for a wide range of budgets and requirements.”
The new homes will be energy efficient and will each feature electric vehicle charging points. Some homes will also have solar PV panels.
Detailed planning consent was finalised in November last year and the first homes are expected to go on sale in the summer.
