A student able to demonstrate his exceptional skills while on a work placement at Mansfield Manor Hotel has gained part-time employment at the venue.
Luke Perkins, (19), of Mansfield, is a student at Vision West Nottinghamshire College in the town, and is on a programme run in partnership with Mencap, the UK charity for people with a learning disability.
Hayley Clements, local Mencap co-ordinator, said: “This is the best outcome we could have hoped for. The idea is that work placements lead to paid employment in the long-term, but Luke’s ability has shone through and he has already gained work.”
Keera Scott, from Mansfield Manor, said: “We try to offer opportunities to the area’s young people.
“Luke has proved to be a popular member of the team, and carries out his duties with care and attention. It made perfect sense to offer him a role here that fits in with his studies.”
