Mansfield District Council is to target Warsop in a Week of Action later this month with litter picks, environmental clean-ups, community speed watches and campaign to promote responsible dog ownership.
The initiative will run from 26 to 30 September and will see litter picks on 26 September, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, in Oakfield Lane (meeting at the bridge), and on 30 September, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm, in Ossington Park, and White Path, Meden Vale, meeting in the park.
All equipment will be provided for volunteers and children can take part if accompanied by an adult.
The council will be promoting responsible dog ownership with its Mascot Scoop the Dog, as well as giving out information about the new Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), at stalls on:
•26 September, 1.30pm to 3pm in Warsop town centre.
•27 September, 2pm to 4pm in Carr Lane Park and The Carrs Local Nature Reserve.
•29 September, 2.30pm to 4pm in Wood Lane Park, Church Warsop.
The Heritage Association Partnership will carry out maintenance on footpaths and at The Carrs Local Nature Reserve, cutting hedges and trees and removing litter.
They will meet on 27 September, from 11am to 1pm, on the footpath from the railway bridge in Netherfield Lane, Meden Vale, and on September 28, from 1pm to 2.30pm, on the footpath behind Egmanton Road, Meden Vale to Cuckney Hill.
The DVLA’s ANPR van will be checking for untaxed vehicles across the parish during the week.
To get involved in the week of action, pick up a volunteer sheet at Warsop Town Hall or The Charity Shop in Meden Vale.
Information about how to get involved in a community speed watch scheme will be available on 29 September, between 5pm to 6.30pm at Bishops Walk, Church Warsop, and on 30 September, between 5pm to 6.30pm at High Street, Warsop.
Mansfield District Council portfolio holder for public protection Coun Mick Barton, said: “We held a similar weeks of action in Mansfield Woodhouse and Forest Town earlier this year and they made a big difference to the neighbourhoods.
“These campaigns are a great way to bring communities together to help make a difference in their areas as well as a chance for the council and other partners to get lots of useful information out to the public and take action to improve the area.”
