Volunteer drivers wanted at Blidworth on the Move

Posted onPosted on 17th May

A charity born during lockdown, which has since expanded its work, is appealing for help.

Blidworth On The Move Support Network includes a community transport scheme, originally set up to take villagers to medical appointments during the pandemic.

That work has continued and now it is looking for volunteer drivers to support isolated and vulnerable people in Blidworth, Ravenshead and Rainworth to get to GP and hospital appointments.

Anyone wanting to help should call 07816933429 or 07776076728.

Gilly Hagen, chairperson of the charity, said: “We are not a taxi service and work to planned appointments. We depend on donations from service users and the public.

“Appropriate training will be given to all drivers, who must have a clean driving licence. Some journeys are short, others are further afield.

“We only support residents from Blidworth, Ravenshead and Rainworth.”
