Ashfield u3Aa has set up a Litter Picking Group with the aid of a grant from Veolia, part of the company’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Campaign.

Sara Hill has recruited a group of 15 ladies, who will pick litter near to their homes and, if required, in other areas.

Many have already started and aim to help keep Ashfield as litter free as possible.

She said: “We appeal to people to put their litter in a nearby bin or to please take it home with them.”

Full equipment has been provided for the litter-pickers and Ashfield District Council helped with health and safety guidance.
