Trolley loads of goodies for food bank

Posted onPosted on 19th Dec

Children at Mapplewells Primary and Nursery School, Sutton, swapped tinsel for tins this Christmas by making a collection for their local food bank.

Children took tinned food into school, leaving their donations in shopping trolleys on loan from their local Coop store on Alfreton Road.

The children collected three shopping trolleys of food. Head teacher Grant Worthington said it was a typical show of kindness from pupils and their families.

He added: “Mapplewells is incredibly lucky to have such kind children and generous families. It is no surprise that so much food has been collected for St Mary’s Food Bank. We hope the donation goes some way to helping their supplies and helping others during the festive season. As a school we would like to thank everyone who donated to this worthy cause.”
