Tree-mendous journey for Christmas trees thanks to Taylors Transport

Posted onPosted on 29th Nov

Have you ever wondered how the Christmas tree in your living room gets there? Yes, we buy it from a shop or garden centre, but it travels many miles beforehand to get there.

Paul Horton, marketing manager for B Taylor & Sons Transport Ltd, Huthwaite, explains how the company recently travelled hundreds of miles to help make many homes merry and bright this Christmas.

“The road transport industry works incredibly hard every single day, to ensure our shops, factories, hospitals, schools and homes have everything they need,” he said.

“Did you know that 89 percent of the things we buy or use have been transported by road and handled by a series of hardworking people along the way. That’s a huge amount, from the producer to the driver, the warehouse operative to the transport manager, and many others in between.”

Taylors Transport travelled to Scotland last week to fetch Christmas trees and deliver them to Ikea in Southampton.

“We went to Kelso in Scotland  to collect a consignment of Scottish-grown Christmas trees to bring festive cheer to customers of Ikea,” added Paul. “On Wednesday (24th November) we branched out and drove up to Kelso ready to be loaded.

“Early Thursday (25th November) morning we went to get loaded  n artic trailer load of premium Christmas trees ready for its journey back to Southampton.

“Later on Thursday (25th November) after our consignment had been loaded, we made the 400-mile final journey to Ikea in Southampton.”
