Three days of free family fun as Ashfield Show returns

Free fun for all the family is promised when Ashfield Show returns for the first time in over a decade over three days at Sutton Lawn in August.

As well as music, outdoor cinema, and live entertainment on different days over the weekend, a market village featuring more than 60 traders will run daily, together with a funfair and food court.

Coun Chris Huskinson, executive lead Member for Leisure, Health and Wellbeing at Ashfield District Council, said: “We are excited to bring Ashfield Show back to Sutton Lawn for the first time in over a decade. It’s not quite the original Ashfield Show we all remember, but it’s set to be an incredible weekend.

“We are proud that the council is able to provide free events like this for our communities.”

Friday, 9th August, 12noon-10pm

Top music tribute acts and singers from the local community on the stage will be at the lake’s edge.

Music starts at 12noon with compere Danielle, followed by two community acts. Then Ariana Grande tribute (2pm), Taylor Swift tribute (3pm), Little Mix tribute (4pm), Shania Twain tribute (5pm), Dolly Parton tribute (6pm), Tina Turner tribute (7pm), Rag n Bone Man tribute (8pm), headline act to be announced (9pm).

 

Saturday, 10th August, 10am-11pm

One of the main attractions at the event will be The Lawdogs and Ladies Wild West show on both Saturday (2pm, 4pm, 6pm) and Sunday (12noon, 2pm), featuring pyrotechnics.

There will also be a petting zoo, from 11am to 4pm, and a falconry display at 1pm and 3pm.

A Feel Good Families marquee will host stalls from community organisations as well as giant garden games, circus toys, and gardening activities.

A community stage will feature performances from local dance schools, solo artists, and entertainers, from 11am to 6pm.

Music on the main stage starts with Danielle (11am), Oliver Vawdrey (12noon), Miley Cyrus tribute (1pm), Ed Sheeran tribute (2pm), Katy Perry tribute (3pm), Ant Green (4pm), Dua Lipa tribute (5pm), Eurovision entry Lindsey Dracass (6pm), Larking Out (7pm), tribute rock trio (8pm), Coldplay tribute (9pm).

 

Sunday, 11th August, 10am-10pm

There will be an outdoor cinema screening of family favourite, The Secret Life of Pets, at 11.30am.

A dog show will include a dog obedience show and talk from Rebel Canine. Full details of how to register for the dog show will be released soon.

The show’s experiences will conclude with a Mamma Mia sing-a-long, starting at 3pm, led by a band and nine-person cast, who will bring ABBA’s most famous songs to life, alongside clips from the film. The funfair will continue until 10pm
