Mansfield Town’s Football in the Community programme has received a cheque for £5,000 from recruitment company Teachers UK.

The education recruitment specialist, based at Mansfield’s I-Centre, has supported the football project at the football club since 2014.

So far, it has enabled 10 schoolchildren to enjoy a match day and be the club’s mascot for the day.

In 2015, the firm gave £2,000 to the cause, raising the sum this year to £5,000 so that Football in the Community can continue their good works.

Louise Hamby, of Teachers UK, said: “We support Football in the Community because of the valuable role it plays in our community. “Working with hundreds of children, it is an inspiration and offers children a variety of opportunities.

“The staff are passionate and dedicated, and their work fosters a unique bond between school children and the club that may last a lifetime.”

Mark Hemingray, head of community at the Stags, said: “Mansfield Town Football in the Community appreciates the donation of £5,000.

“That and the continued partnership with Teachers UK goes a long way to enabling us to continue our work in schools.

“The main aim of Football in the Community is to change the lives of the community through the power of football and, as we say, great football starts here.

“Teachers UK is an integral part of the continuation of our charity’s work.”
