Thinking about others on Black Friday

Black Friday, originally an American phenomenon, is the day in which a wide range of retailers drastically slash their prices and shoppers head in their masses to try to grab themselves a bargain.

East Midlands-based Shop4Charity will be thinking of those less fortunate with their Black Friday sale that has a twist – money goes to charity rather than straight into their pockets.

Started and run by Nottinghamshire local Adam Maddock, Shop4Charity is not an ordinary charity shop, it is completely online and has a massive range of gift-based products, including official merchandise from Despicable Me, Marvel Comics, Star Wars & Batman along with a range of other items, including watches, tech accessories and personalised gifts.

The Maddock family started Shop4Charity, along with their very own charity The Vanessa Fund after losing beloved family member Vanessa to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Since then they have built partnerships with a wide range of charities, including #Manuary and Delete Blood Cancer, and many more, all of which are going to benefit from Shop4Charity sales on Black Friday, at Christmas and beyond.

Shop4Charity said “This year Britons are set to spend around £2bn in just one day on Black Friday, which works out at over £1m being spent every minute, but so much of this money just goes straight into the pockets of big businesses.

“We think it’s time other people got considered on Black Friday too. Everyone loves getting a bargain, and that’s great, but we need to remember to help those who are suffering too, which is why we decided to hold a Black Friday sale with a difference, where people will be able to easily donate to charity, whilst also grabbing themselves some great gifts.”
