Theatre helps to feed homeless

Posted onPosted on 21st May

Mansfield Palace Theatre has put its unused stocks of drinks and snacks to good use – helping to feed the homeless at the town’s Beacon Project.

Theatre staff had raised the question of identifying stock in the closed venue that would be written off by going out of date and donating it to local causes.

Kath Ratcliffe, front of house team leader, collated and recorded the stock that would have been written off while the theatre remains closed.

It was collected by Liam Dunn, from Mansfield District Council’s housing repairs team, and delivered to the Food Hub at the Civic Centre.

Ruth Smith, housing management team leader, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to the Palace Theatre for their kind donation. The contribution will go a long way in helping to feed our homeless at this very difficult time.”

The items of drinks and snacks were all distributed to the Beacon Project to help to feed the homeless.
