The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean returns

Posted onPosted on 1st Feb

Following on from the success of previous years, The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean is again coming to Ashfield.

Residents are invited to dispose of an extra bag of household waste and book a free bulky waste collection in February.

Rolling out in Hucknall on 8th February, the BIG Spring Clean will run over three weeks, with Kirkby, Annesley, Underwood, Selston and Jacksdale running from 15th February, and Sutton and Huthwaite from 22nd February.

A bag of extra waste can be bagged and put out with a regular bin collection during the relevant week and residents can take advantage of a free bulky waste collection if booked during the Spring Clean.

Coun Jason Zadrozny, leader of Ashfield District Council, said: “Following the success of the last three years, we are proud to once again announce the Spring Clean this year. Our Waste Team have continued to deliver a full service throughout the pandemic, and along with other campaigns we’ve run throughout the year, the Spring Clean will give residents the opportunity to get rid of extra waste.

“You can leave out an extra bag of household waste with the bin collection during the week for where you live, and throughout the Spring Clean residents can book a free bulky waste collection where we will collect up to three items.”

In order to keep waste crews safe residents are asked to spray the neck of the bag with anti-bacterial spray when placed at the collection point and the council will be allowing at least 72 hours between the initial request and the collection of bulky items.
