The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean returns

Posted onPosted on 30th Jan

The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean, part of Ashfield District Council’s commitment to make the district a cleaner place to live, work and visit, is returning in February.

The council is again inviting residents to have a clear-out of their homes and gardens and dispose of their waste.

The BIG Ashfield Spring Clean 2020 will start in Sutton on 10th February and run for three weeks, with Hucknall running from 17th February and Kirkby, Underwood, Selston and Jacksdale from 24th February.

Extra waste can be bagged and put out with regular bin collections during the relevant week and residents can take advantage of a free bulky waste collection if booked during the Spring Clean.

Coun Jason Zadrozny, leader of the council, said: “Following the success of the last two years, we are proud to announce an even bigger and better Spring Clean this year. We’ve made it easier for all residents to get involved – offering a simple, personalised service.

“You simply need to bag your extra waste in bin bags and leave it out with your regular bin collection during the week the BIG Spring Clean is in your area.

“We’ll also be using the campaign as an opportunity to target fly tipping and illegal waste carriers in the district, we’re sending out the message that fly tipping will not be tolerated. We will do everything we can to assist residents with their waste but come down like a ton of bricks on those who fly-tip and dump rubbish.

“We are committed to tackling issues and informing residents on how they can help Ashfield stay a clean and pleasant place to live.

“We want the residents of Ashfield to take pride in their communities and local community groups, businesses and schools are being encouraged to organise litter picks in parks, open spaces and litter hot spots.”
