Survey boost for Mansfield

Mansfield District Council has welcomed the findings of a report that shows people in the district are among the most satisfied in England.

The Office for National Statistics reveal happiness, anxiety and satisfaction levels, and where in the country people feel their lives are most or least worthwhile.

In the table for residents being most satisfied with their lives, Mansfield was third.

Asked to rate their overall life satisfaction out of 10, 32.3% of people in the district gave themselves a nine or ten — just behind leaders Cornwall (33.3%) and Cumbria (33.2%).

At the bottom of the satisfaction table were the London Borough of Camden (16.7%) followed by Wolverhampton (16.9%).

Mansfield mayor Kate Allsop said: “We’ve always known Mansfield is a great place to live and it is wonderful that the we have come third in this survey.

“However, there is always more to be done and we are constantly working on ways to improve the lives of people in this area.”

Overall the largest proportion of happy people in England are living in Mid Sussex, while the smallest number of happy people live in Wolverhampton, according to the statistics.

Data was collected over three years and was used to measure the well-being of more than 300,000 people across the UK.
