Mansfield and Ashfield schools, community groups and councils wanting to plant trees in school grounds or in community spaces are being urged to apply for Greenwood Community Forest grants.
It is offering free advice and funding for planting of up to £250.
Projects could include planting to provide areas of shade, create or enhance a wildlife area, or screen unsightly areas.
Previously, some groups and schools have planted fruit trees as part of a healthy living project, species rich hedgerows for wildlife or planted a tree as a memorial or commemoration.
The deadline for applications is Friday, 6th November. An application form is available at www.greenwoodforest.org.uk
