Mansfield District Council’s summer of fun continues with the second of three summer festivals on Wednesday, 12 August at Titchfield Park Mansfield.
The event runs from 10am to 3pm and is packed with fun and free entertainment for all the family -including the dog.
Visitors can enjoy arena attractions including a bird of prey flying demonstration, multi-skills sports activities, circus skills workshops, mini dog shows and commentary from Mansfield 103.2.
There is also an opportunity to take part in arts and craft activities, handle critters at the meet the beasts stall and get your face painted. If you’re thinking of learning a new skill, there will also be the chance to have a go at wall climbing.
Mansfield Museum will also be there to celebrate the industrial heritage of Mansfield by hosting a mining gala, which links in with their new ‘Made in Mansfield’ exhibition. It includes ‘pit’ pony rides and music from the Pleasley Colliery Welfare Band, as well as a chance to try traditional ‘Pit Cake’.
The park will host a range of other activities including a hands-on recycling workshop, butterfly count and a whole host of interactive and educational games, plus a chance to pick up some tips on looking after your dog.
Representatives from the council’s various departments and members of Mansfield Partnership Against Crime (MPAC) will also be available to answer questions and give advice on topics such as dog control, drug abuse and healthy eating. Lots of freebies will be available to pick up throughout the day while stocks last.
Cllr Andrew Tristram, Mansfield District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “This free family event is the second of three festivals taking place over the summer holidays. It’s a great opportunity to spend some time out with the family in our parks and take part in some fun activities. Bring your friends and family for a great day out.”
