Students have challenge figured out

Key Stage 4 students from the Samworth Church Academy, Mansfield (right), took part in a national mathematics competition, run by the United Kingdom Mathematical Trust.

It tested students’ subject knowledge and their ability to apply that to problem-solving tasks.

Many students gained certificates with one — Will Smith — reaching the next round of the competition.

Results: Year 9 bronze — Christopher Ryder.

Year 10 bronze — Loren Clyde, Megan Jenkinson and Roman Edwards. Year 10 silver — Molly Jackson, Joe Czubkowski, Cherri-Leigh Taylor and Jake Smith.

Year 11 bronze — Matthew Willimson, Oliver Siggee, Mitchell Foster, Ethan Barnitt, Jamie Kamionko, Faith Darby, Lucy Marley, Jacob Cooper, Rhys Fox and Luke Sansom. Year 11 silver — Orla Nixon, Elliott Severn, Jessica Elkin, Thomas Marley and Joseph Allen. Year 11 gold — Ashley Greene and Will Smith.

Results from sixth-form students who competed in the senior competition in November were: Bronze — Matt Adkins, Sophie Walker and Agata Poplawska. Gold — Christopher Smith.
