Community groups, schools, businesses and individuals in Mansfields across the world are gearing up for International Clean-Up Mansfield Day on Friday 12 June.
More than 40 participants in our Mansfield and Mansfields in the USA, Canada and Australia have already pledged to take part in the third annual event organised by Mansfield District Council.
It’s not too late to sign up to join groups who are planning activities such as painting benches, trimming hedges, community litter picks, creating window displays, planting flowers, weeding and wildlife surveys.
Mansfield BID, staff from Marks and Spencer, Asda in Forest Town, John Sankey estate agents, I Do Bridal Boutique and Serco at the Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex are all planning environmental improvements along with West Notts College and a host of local primary schools.
Councillors, Neighbourhood Wardens and other council staff will also be taking part as will Oak Tree Conservation Group, Maun Conservation Group and Forest Town Nature Conservation Group. Framework, Corner House Care Home, 4th Mansfield Woodhouse Scout Group, Joint Forces Alliance and Peafield Community Association all have events planned.
Children in Mansfield, Connecticut, will be picking litter in their playground and planting flowers. There will be a litter pick in Mansfield, Georgia, and Mansfield Shire Council in Victoria, Australia, is encouraging residents to clean up litter. Mansfield Outdoor Centre in Ontario, Canada, has also pledged to take part.
Coun Andrew Tristram, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: “I am delighted so many people have signed up to take part in our clean up day on 12 June. We are so close to making this our biggest and most successful event yet and hope even more people will sign up to help us achieve our aim of improving the local environment in Mansfields across the world.”
