Eleven members of Sutton Swimming Club gained an impressive medal tally of 49 between them at the 2023 Notts ASA County Championships.
Medal winners were Thomas Swales (nine gold, two silver), Daisy Stirland (one gold, four silver, six bronze), Jack Hill (six silver and two bronze), Egor Colubs (five silver, one bronze), Jared Collins (one gold, one silver, two bronze), Ellie McKeaney (one gold, one silver, one bronze), Tom Trueman (one gold, one silver), Lucia Fiori (one silver), Kayla Godfrey (one silver), Scarlett-Rose Allsopp (one bronze), Chloe Morton (one bronze).
Held over three weekends at Harvey Hadden Sports Village, the ‘Counties’ also saw many other swimmers gain qualifying times and personal bests.
Two Sutton swimmers finished top of the rankings to take top boy and girl in their respective age categories — Daisy Stirland (13 years) and Thomas Swales (top) (14 years).
Other members to win top 10 placings in their age category were: Egor Golubs (11) – 2nd, Jack Hill (11) – 7th, Scarlett-Rose Allsopp (11) – 7th, Lucia Fiori (11) – 10th, Ellie McKeaney (12) – 5th, Elsa Barber (13) – 7th, Jared Collins (15) – 3rd, Amelia Roberts (15) – 5th, and Adam Read (18) – 10th.
Thomas was also crowned Junior Champion for not just winning the event, but having the fastest time of all the 14 years and younger boys in the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 200m individual medley events.
