An audience of sports enthusiasts supported the Armchair Club to another successful annual Question of Sport quiz, raising funds for the charity.
Following a meal in the Eastwood Suite, Portland College, the quiz format mirrored the television show with teams enthusiastically tackling several rounds, including the usual What Year Is It?, Who Am I?, Where Am I?, and What Happens Next? sections.
Teams were put together by local businesses to support the Armchair Club, a group of businesspeople who have been raising money for local sports clubs and individuals for more than 40 years.
The sporting quiz evening raised a further £1,186 for its funds.
Defending champions Hopkins Solicitors couldn’t hold on to the trophy for a second year, finishing third. With one round to go two teams — Maguire Training and Collins Casuals — were level on points, fighting for top spot.
Collins Casuals (pictured) eventually triumphed, lifting the trophy for the third time in four years.
The Armchair Club thanked generous local firms for fielding teams for the fundraising evening.
The top five teams also included Adkin Sinclair, who were fourth, and fifth-placed John Sankey Estate Agents.
The next Armchair Club fundraising events are a sporting dinner on Monday, 28th April at Forest Town Arena, when former FIFA referee Keith Hackett will be guest speaker, and the charity’s 10th Annual Golf Day on Friday, 20th June at Coxmoor Golf Club, Sutton.
