Sporting chance in memory of Emma

Posted onPosted on 7th Jul

The Emma Stamp Charitable Trust — set up in memory of the Mansfield Town supporter and fundraiser for local charities Skillforce and Endeavour — has made two further grants to help local sport.

An award of £200 was given to eight-year-old Abigail Taylor, of Mansfield, who has been chosen to represent England in the WMKF (World Martial Kombat Federation) World Championships in Malta, in November.

Abigail, pictured receiving a cheque from Jimmy Ulyatt, Tuesday night Fight Club instructor, has been doing karate for two years.

In May her first points-sparring competition led to her being invited to undertake training (in addition to the three weekly sessions she is already committed to) and represent Team England.
Abigail, who attends the Personal Best Kidz Academy on Newgate Lane, Mansfield, and said one day she hoped to be like her instructor, Zara Phythian.

For more information, or to donate towards the costs of Abigail’s training, flights, accommodation and kit, go to www.crowdfunding.justgiving.com/rebecca-taylor-4-WMKF

The trust has also donated £414 to Underwood Villa Football Club’s under-7’s to buy training jackets.

The club is run by volunteers who work towards encouraging the development of football for all.

The trust thanked everyone who continued to raise funds for the cause and said plans were under way to celebrate what would have been Emma’s 30th birthday with a fundraising initiative aiming to raise money for local good causes.
