Queen Elizabeth’s Academy has received the prestigious Association for Physical Education (afPE) Quality Mark, highlighting the strength of physical education and sport at the school.
It is the only secondary school in the Mansfield area to be awarded the accolade, highlighting the rapid improvement journey the academy is on since becoming part of Diverse Academies Learning Partnership in 2016.
The Mansfield academy provides a wide-range of activities as part of its curriculum, together with a large choice of sporting clubs and opportunities for young people to develop.
There is a drive within the academy to engage young people within sport and activity to benefit their overall physical and mental health.
It also leads to better behaviour, increased attendance, and the development of key skills such as leadership, confidence and social skills.
Head of PE Mark Sisson said; “It rewards the hard work and commitment our staff put in to ensuring that physical education lessons are engaging, enjoyable and meaningful for all students.
“We pride ourselves on catering for all children in terms of their sporting interests and abilities.
“The students who have supported this application have been brilliant, and I want to thank them for their input.
“When the external validator visited, she was blown away by the provision on offer.”
