Three Mansfield hairdressers are preparing to make their first parachute jump to raise funds for a national charity.

Dawn Kershaw, Suzann Armstrong and Karen Berry work at Barnets men’s barbers in Mansfield’s Market Street. They will perform their sponsored skydive at Langar Airfield on May 1st in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Salon manager Dawn Kershaw described the prospect of leaping from a plane as “hair raising”.

The three hairdressers are training for the event with gym workouts at AJ Fitness in Mansfield. Proprietor Ady James is an early sponsor of the jump. Anyone wanting to sponsor the skydive can do so by signing up at the salon or ringing them on 01623 424742 during normal shop hours

“It’s very fitting”, said a spokesman for Barnets, ”that the three ladies who work in a men’s salon should help a charity dedicated to improving men’s health None of them has skydived before and they show admirable courage.”
