Family, friends and members of Soroptimist International Mansfield and District joined club president Julie Howe-Shilton to plant a flowering cherry tree in memory of Hazel Thompson (below), who died in March.

Hazel was a valued and long-serving member, having twice served as president.

A time capsule was also buried by the tree. It contains photos and mementoes of Hazel’s life.

The date chosen for the ceremony would have been Hazel’s 93rd birthday.
