Soroptimists highlight work to protect environment

Posted onPosted on 22nd Feb

Members of Soroptimist International Mansfield and District showed their love for environmental issues in February.

They wrote to Mansfield MP Ben Bradley as part of their support for The Climate Coalition’s Show Your Love campaign.

The group said it is concerned that people nationally and around the world are feeling the impacts of climate change and spiralling costs of living, and want to see a safer, greener future.

In February Soroptimists used green hearts to show decision makers they wanted to see urgent action to tackle climate change, protect nature, and bring down the cost of household bills.

Their letter to the MP called on him to raise awareness of the issues in Parliament.

As part of their environmental work, Mansfield Soroptimists recorded all plastic that they either threw away or recycled during one week in February to gather

statistics that could help people reduce their use of plastic materials.

On Wednesday, 8th March, to mark International Women’s Day, the Soroptimists are hosting a meal at Springwater Restaurant, Calverton, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £25.

On Friday, 24th March, there will be a ladies’ fundraising fashion show and pop-up shop, held by Colours, at Ravenshead Village Hall, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5.
