Something for everyone at theatre and museum

Posted onPosted on 1st Apr

From craft and wellbeing activities during the school holidays in Mansfield Museum to local talent performing on stage at the Palace Theatre, there is something for all ages and tastes on offer in April.

Theatre-goers have a rare chance to see a West End classic as Heanor Musical Theatre Company perform Chess from 6 to 9 April. Penned by ABBA duo Benny and Bjorn, alongside legendary lyricist Tim Rice, it contains the well-known chart hit I Know Him So Well.

Being mindful of the sensitive nature of this play’s topic – Cold War tensions – a collection will be held each night for the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Mansfield Palace Theatre for a pantomime version of The Wizard of Oz this Easter. It stars comedy legend Bobby Davro as Scarecrow, X-Factor and Celebrity Big Brother’s Stevi Ritchie as Tin Man. Limited tickets remain for the show on 10 April.

The Story of Guitar Heroes on 27 April features an anthology of the greatest guitar hits from the likes of Jimmy Page, Hank Marvin, Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Van Halen, Slash and many more.

Lee Memphis King enters the building as Elvis, back by popular demand on 28 April, to recreate all the classic hits including Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes, Are you Lonesome Tonight and many more.

Seriously Collins comes on 29 April with no gimmicks, wigs or gorilla suits, just a genuine tribute to Phil Collins and Genesis with a live 10 piece band. This two-hour extravaganza will take you on a musical journey, featuring songs such as In the Air Tonight, Another Day in Paradise, Easy Lover, Against all Odds, Invisible Touch, I can’t Dance and Sussudio.

There are several dance schools performing this month.

You can book online 24/7 for all of these shows at mansfieldpalace.co.uk or call the Box Office on 01623 633133.
