Solicitors raise money for hospice

Posted onPosted on 14th Oct

Banner Jones Solicitors in Mansfield completed a free Wills month to raise money for the John Eastwood Hospice, Sutton.

The firm, based on Union Street and formerly known as Bilton Hammond Solicitors, waived its Will writing fees in return for a donation to the hospice, raising £1,905.

Solicitor Angela McGuckin said: “As well as the £1,905 raised in donations, clients have also left more than £300,000 in legacies to the hospice, which will be a huge support to it in years to come.

“Legacies are an extremely important part of fundraising for charities and we are delighted to have helped raise such a fantastic amount”.

Ann-Marie Lowe, marketing manager at the solicitors, said: “The hospice, like so many other community services, is under pressure from reduced funding and rising costs, so it’s more important than ever for local businesses to support them.

“Banner Jones is always looking for ways to support the community and we know that our clients prefer to support local charities, so we have decided that the free Wills month for John Eastwood will become an annual event.”
