Mansfield Building Society has donated £220 to Nottingham Piscatorial Society from its Community Support Scheme.
The piscatorial society is one of the oldest fishing clubs in the UK with around 800 of its members from Nottinghamshire.
The funds were awarded to help pay the cost of training angling coaches.
Secretary Dale Whittaker, pictured with members of the society, said: “We are trying to establish a junior section and encourage under 18s to go fishing. These funds will pay for NVQ training for a coach and also cover the costs of DBS checks.”
The Mansfield’s Marketing Co-ordinator, Mandy Whitten, said: “We are very pleased to be able to help. It is important to get children involved in local groups where they learn new skills in a social environment.”
