Debdale Park Sports and Recreational Club in Mansfield Woodhouse hosted The Great Tommy Sleep Out to boost funds for the Royal British Legion (RBL)
Staff from Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands were challenged to spend a night sleeping under the stars, raising awareness and £3,660 to support veterans facing homelessness, and those with disabilities.
The national event, launched by the Royal British Legion Industries in 2021, aims to encourage individuals and businesses across the UK to brave one night of discomfort in solidarity with former Armed Forces personnel struggling with housing issues.
All money raised helps the RBL continue its work providing safe accommodation, employment opportunities, and welfare support to veterans every year.
Seven members of staff from Barratt and David Wilson Homes took part in the challenge — Mark Cotes, Martyn Parker, Trevor Rockley, Beth Astle, Mick Day, James Fowler and Frankie Marson.
Mark, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “We are proud to have taken part and to do our bit for the veterans who have given so much for us all.
“Spending just one night outside was a small challenge for us, but it highlighted the daily struggles that too many ex-service personnel face. Supporting organisations like the Royal British Legion is vital, and we are pleased to have played a part in raising both awareness and much-needed funds.
“We also thank Debdale Park Sports and Recreational Club for its support.”
