Schools, businesses, residents, conservation and community groups have less than a month to sign up for this year’s International Clean Up Mansfield Day.

The award-winning annual event, which aims to improve the local environment in Mansfield and other Mansfields across the world, will take place on Friday 10 June 2016.

Last year’s event was the biggest and most successful yet with more than 50 participants helping to clean up the town, as well as Mansfields in the USA and Canada. This year Mansfield in Texas and Mansfield in Georgia have signed up to the event.

There are lots of different ways you can get involved, such as sponsoring an award, planting flowers and trees or carrying out a litter-pick or some weeding.

Everyone who takes part in the event will be presented with a certificate and awards will be given to the winners of the best clean-up activities.

Portfolio Holder for the Environment at Mansfield District Council, Cllr Andrew Tristram said: “Last year saw a fantastic effort which made a big difference to the district and was a very rewarding experience for all those who took part.

“Help us to make this event even bigger and better this year by getting in touch and getting involved to help make Mansfield in the UK, one of the cleanest places on the planet.”
