A Mansfield couple are rejecting the traditional white wedding for a spooky themed ceremony this Halloween at the town’s register office.
Jimi Pownall, 59, and Caroline Jackson, 51, are embracing the ghost and ghouls theme on their big day and will enter their ceremony to the Halloween favourite ‘Monster Mash’.
The happy couple will be dressed as Bram Stoker’s Dracula and a ghost bride and most of their sixty guests have agreed to follow suit by wearing spooky costumes.
The wedding party will finish their ‘Thriller’ day at a nearby public house, which will decked out in Halloween paraphernalia.
Jimi said: “We wanted to do something really different as Caroline and I have been married before and we did top hat and tails last time with our previous partners.
“We both love Halloween and dress up for Halloween parties each year so we both jumped at the chance to bring this theme into our wedding celebrations.
“I’m really excited about it and I’ve got goose bumps just thinking about it!”
Councillor Glynn Gilfoyle, Chair of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Community Safety Committee, said: “We’ve held many weddings with unusual themes and styles over the years and we strive to meet people’s wishes and needs, and ensure their big day is special for them.”
Register offices in the county are managed by the County Council and their registrars also undertake wedding and civil partnerships at wide range of approved venues across the county.
