Mansfield Rotary Club’s Just Bin It! litter-picking campaign has a new band of volunteers — youngsters at Saville House School.
The initiative has attracted hundreds of people, who regularly volunteer their time and effort to clean up areas close to where they live.
Now pupils at the Mansfield Woodhouse school have joined the campaign after expressing a wish to get involved in helping to clear litter from the area.
Mansfield Rotary Club is providing litter-pick tools for volunteers to use as they clean-up the area — their neighbourhood, roadsides, pavements, parks and schools.
And the club delivered a set of litter-pickers for Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils who wanted to get involved.
Supported by the school’s head boy, head girl and head of wildlife, the youngsters went to a local park to clear rubbish.
In half an hour they cleared a bike wheel, flip flops, a discarded football, bottle tops, paper, cardboard, sweet wrappers and general rubbish.
Anyone interested in joining the litter-pickers is asked to register on Mansfield Rotary’s website — https://mansfieldrotary.co.uk/mansfields-big-clean — or call 01623 706540 and leave a message.
