Santa Dash at Leamington Primary School

Posted onPosted on 15th Dec

Leamington Primary and Nursery Academy, Sutton, made sure that Covid-19 didn’t get in the way of its Christmas festivities with an array of safe events for children to enjoy.

Pupils enjoyed a virtual ‘Covid Christmas Panto’ hosted by Adam Moss, the Palace Theatre’s panto star, and held a Christmas party with dancing, games and fun.

Children in Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 performed their traditional Nativity concerts to be streamed into homes, and Key Stage 2 created a carol concert to share some Christmas cheer.

Children also visited the school’s amazing Winter Wonderland, filled with snow and fun to have their photograph taken with Buddy the Elf or Santa, following social distancing and safety guidelines.

To round off the week children had a Christmas jumper and Christmas dinner day and Leamington’s first Santa dash. Each year group was challenged to chase Santa around the field, crossing the line to a snowy finish.

Kaye McGuire, head teacher, said: “The children have lost so much this year. It was time to ensure the children had fun and smiles at this festive time of year. The staff and community have been amazing in their support of the school throughout. Leamington is truly amazing.”
