Samworth celebrates students

More than 60 prizes were given to students who showed either academic excellence, or contributed to academy or community life, at the Samworth Church Academy’s annual awards evening.

Each of the subjects at the Mansfield academy nominated three students with one winner invited to the ceremony.

None of the students knew which subject they had been successful in.

Academy student of the year was Betty Harrison from year 11.

Dancers performed Flicker Beat and the choir sang Hold Back The River.

Principal Barry Found said: “The evening was all about our students, their achievements and their successes, their talents and them as confident learners and developing citizens.

“It’s been a great evening to celebrate all of these qualities with those who support them, the teachers, the staff, parents and carers.”
