Mansfield Rugby Club members have smashed their £15,000 fundraising target as they tackle a 30-day fundraising challenge to help the community club survive during the coronavirus pandemic.
Now the club has revised its target up to £18,000 as the club’s members take on a variety of physical challenges during the month.
A spokesman said: “As a result of the pandemic, we have been closed since March with no income from our usual activities. However, costs in maintaining the clubhouse and grounds do not stop.
“We firmly believe that people are happy to help those who are prepared to help themselves, which is why we have launched a club-wide fundraising campaign to ensure our short to medium term future, comprising a series of physical challenges.
“It’s a real club effort with members involved from every team across our seniors and juniors, men’s and women’s groups as well as non-playing administrators.”
The Mansfield Rugby Club 30 Day Challenge is running until 30th July. There is a wide variety of activities that will test members in terms of strength, stamina, resolve and, in some cases, skill.
People can keep up with the progress of all the challenges on the club’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts.
