Retired Mansfield solicitor Robin Wilson is among eight new Deputy Lieutenants, appointed by the Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace.

Mr Wilson, who will assist Sir John in his role representing The Queen in Nottinghamshire, was Provincial Grand Master for Nottinghamshire Freemasons from 2005 to 2015.

During his legal career he was both a managing and senior partner, specialising in liquor licensing and representing the former Mansfield Brewery around the country.

Mr Wilson, who became a Freemason at Cambridge University in the 1960s, was responsible for instigating many initiatives to improve openness, education, training and the profile and public understanding of Freemasonry,
