Regular litter-picker Debbie Williamson reported encouraging news after one session clearing rubbish along Clipstone Road East and Clipstone Drive, Forest Town, and a local park as part of a Just Bin It campaign by Mansfield Rotary Club.
“There seemed to be less litter than previous weeks so I’m hopeful that we are making a difference,” she said.
“I heard a little boy being reprimanded by his parents on the play area after he dropped a used tissue on the ground. They pointed out ‘the kind lady who has just cleaned all of this for you to have a nice place to play. We are being appreciated!”
The Rotary Club launched the litter-picking challenge nine months. Since then around 200 people have signed up are now regularly volunteering their time and effort to clean up areas close to where they live.
Mansfield Rotary is committed to providing 250 litter-picking tools to anyone who wants to play their part in keeping their neighbourhood clean.
