Mansfield Rotary Club is urging people to take part in the Great British Spring Clean, organised by the Keep Britain Tidy Group, until 13th June, as part of its own Just Bin It initiative.
There are now 367 volunteers picking up litter on a regular basis for the Mansfield Rotary project and Warsop & Shirebrook Rotary Club, Sutton Rotary Club and Kirkby Rotary Club are also launching their own litter picking campaign.
To add to the community effort Mansfield Rotary Club asks people to commit to a local litter-pick for the Great British Spring Clean and to post photos to social media, with a comment referencing Mansfield Rotary’s campaign.
Among the local parks friends’ groups hosting events are:
Maun Conservation Group (Quarry Lane & Oakham LNRs & Titchfield Park)
Friends of Yeoman Hill Park
Friends of Berry Hill Park
Friends of Fisher Lane Park
Friends of Forest Road
Friends of Hornby Plantation
At the moment there are no litter picking activities planned in Peafield Park or Carr Bank Park.
If volunteers are interested in litter-picking these parks or any closer to them, Mansfield District Council ask that people email [email protected] with the area and date so they can arrange to collect the rubbish.
The council has also provided the Rotary Club and Mansfield Rotarian Stewart Rickersey with a supply of blue litter bags marked with the MDC name. If anyone would like bags, call Stewart on 07837 026009 to arrange collection.
