Rotary club enters 70th year

Kirkby Rotary Club’s 70th year was launched when the outgoing president handed over the chains of office to his successor at the annual changeover dinner at Coxmoor Golf Club.

Rotarian Riley awarded club trophies to nine members for their achievements during the past year. He also presented long-service certificates to six Kirkby Rotarians who had a total of 235 years of membership.

“The club continues to flourish and provides the support needed by many organisations and individuals in our local community and elsewhere,” he said.

Rotarian Hurt said: It’s the seventieth anniversary of our charter to Rotary International, and we’ll be celebrating that at our Charter Dinner in March next year. We must remember that though we aim to serve, we also come to have a good time. The two go together hand in glove.”
