Kirkby Rotary Club normally holds a couple of afternoon tea parties for elderly residents each year, but as a result of the Covid-19 crisis the summer event is currently on hold.
So instead of waiting for the residents to come to them, Kirkby Rotary made a donation to three local care homes of fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers as a thank you to residents and key workers.
They delivered to Lowmoor Nursing, Five Gables and Willis Lodge, with a reminder that they are looking forward to welcoming them all to the next tea party in Kirkby as soon as possible after restrictions are lifted and conditions allow.
A spokesman for the Rotary Club said: “A big thank you to all members and for anyone who donated – and to Nicola Barnfather and her team at Morrisons, Kirkby, for helping Kirkby Rotary make this possible.”
