Eagle-eyed Nottinghamshire County Council rangers are involved in a wildlife project that has captured photographs of Great Britain’s favourite bird, the robin, in its beloved Sherwood Forest habitat.
The robin was voted Britain’s favourite bird in a nationwide poll carried out by ornithologist David Lindo.
Council rangers say that the bird is popular in Sherwood Forest Country Park.
One has become a permanent visitor in recent months to the visitor centre area with rangers offering the bird seed every morning.
Earlier this year, the council launched a wildlife project with Barbara Meyer to learn more about popular species in their natural habitat in the forest by taking photographs and films at different times of the day and night.
The initiative aims to help the team, including Sherwood’s assistant site manager, Paul Cook and colleagues, learn more about species as part of their vital conservation work in the forest.
Barbara Meyer runs Big Cat Photography, and is a specialist in wildlife and nature photography.
