For the eleventh year in a row the Mansfield Roadrunners Scooter Club will be revving up for their charity ride to King’s Mill Hospital.
The Eggs to the Mill convoy on 20th March will see more than 300 scooters from across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire travel to the hospital to present toys and gifts to staff at the hospital’s Neonatal Unit as well as numerous Easter eggs to the children’s ward.
Over the years the club has raised over £13,000 for the neonatal unit and has collected in thousands of eggs. The funds are raised through raffle and charity events with prizes donated from generous local people and businesses.
Club member and assistant organiser Christopher Patrick said: “The annual charity run up to King’s Mill has always been a great success.
“We are delighted to once again give gifts to help cheer up poorly children who are in hospital over the Easter period, and also to donate funds for vital equipment for the Neonatal Unit.
“We always have a great day and we are encouraging everyone to come out and give us a cheer.”
Nicola Armstrong, play leader on the children’s ward, will be officially meeting the riders. She said: “We are very grateful to the club and local people for their tremendous efforts and generosity over the years.
“They brighten up Easter for patients and families on our Neonatal Unit and children’s ward – they really appreciate the gifts.”
