Raising money for Macmillan at The White Swan

Posted onPosted on 2nd Oct

A community fundraising day at The White Swan pub, Pleasley, raised more than £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Licensees Stuart and David Taylor Day, who took over the pub in February, having worked with Admiral Taverns for six years, are strong supporters of the charity.

A traditional fete featured bake stalls, bric-a-brac, hook-a-duck competitions and a barbecue.

The fundraising continued into the evening with a live auction, when prizes included a signed Mansfield Town Football Club ball that raised £100.

Yorkshire singer Lee Kirmen also performed.

Further fundraising initiatives are planned at The White Swan, where David and Stuart have brought the pub’s beer garden back to life after a 10-year period of non-use.

Stuart and David said: “We are thrilled to have raised such a significant amount for Macmillan. It was an honour to have the chance to present our cheque (above) for £2072.32 to Stacey Smalley, area fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer.

The White Swan is a great local pub and we are determined to keep it a thriving hub for the area.”
