Members of the Amazon Breast Cancer Support Group, based at Sutton’s King’s Mill Hospital, took part in Breast Cancer Awareness Month by staging an event in the Idlewells Shopping Centre, Sutton.
A lucky dip tombola stall, sales of pink ribbon pins, and donations helped to raise £137 to benefit breast cancer patients at King’s Mill. The support group also used the event to promote the charity through its Amazon newsletters and free pink wristbands.
Members spoke to people about the origins and aims of the support group, and its place within breast care services at the hospital.
They emphasised the importance of personal breast care awareness and the significance of attending three-yearly mammogram appointments, advising that if someone had missed an appointment they could contact the breast screening department at the hospital and request another. The charity thanked everyone who supported the event.

Kerry White (pictured) continued her support for the Amazons by turning her Blidworth hairdressing salon, Xpressions, into a cake foodie’s heaven for a week during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Helped by her many supporters, Kerry organised raffles and cake sales, raising £1,160 for the Amazon Breast Cancer Support Group, which thanked the fundraisers for their generosity.
