Matthew Palmer, the local watercolour artist, teacher and broadcaster, judged the junior phase of an art competition organised by Kirkby Rotary Club and Orchard Primary School in the town.
Pupils in Years 5 and 6 produced 90 drawings, paintings and collages on the theme Our World, from which staff selected 30 entries for the competition. Matthew chose the winners and gave a demonstration.
Dillon Bottomore (right) and Angelica Alexander (second right) were winner and runner-up in Year 5, and Emily Thompson (second left) and Rhia Staniforth in Year 6.
The pupils’ work is to go on display in the library.
