The council is running the Your Dog, Your Responsibility campaign, which provides dog owners with information on issues such as dog fouling, micro-chipping, excessive barking, neutering and control.
Coun Barton said: “By educating children, we hope they will become responsible dog owners of the future and raise awareness across the district.
“The poster campaign is part of the council’s determined efforts to put a stop to nuisance dog owners in Mansfield.
“The council is actively enforcing dog control orders by issuing £75 fixed penalty fines to people who don’t pick up mess after their dogs.
“The posters designed by the schoolchildren will help to push home this message.
“Children are among the most frequent users of parks and green spaces and they are at risk of picking up serious infections, including toxicara, which can cause blindness.”
