Posted onPosted on 12th Aug

Nova Education Trust, which runs Meden School, Warsop; and The Garibaldi School, Forest Town;  has paid tribute to pupils on their GCSE exam achievements.

Ashfaq Rahman, CEO of Nova Education Trust, said: “Today’s results reflect an extraordinary effort from the students and the staff that have supported them.

Despite two years of disrupted learning, our young people have shown immense resilience and tenacity and our staff have been outstanding in how they have navigated students and parents throughout the Teacher Assessed Grades process. I would like to offer my sincerest thanks to all staff, parents and governors for their work and support, and congratulations to all our students – my very best wishes to them for the future.”

At Meden School, staff praised the resilience of students during the difficult circumstances caused by the pandemic.

Louisa Brett, Deputy Head of School, said: “Meden’s Year 11 class of 2021 has epitomised what can truly be achieved
when young people are faced with challenges. Despite the difficult circumstances of the last two years, our students have achieved excellent results through hard work, perseverance, determination and resilience.

“In a summer where students were told there would be no exams, our students faced a prolonged period of daily assessments, and not only did they rise to this challenge, they embraced it with positivity and an impressive strength of resolve. Our students are a real credit to themselves and their families and we are proud beyond words of what they have achieved. We shall miss them greatly and we wish them all the very best for their next steps.”

At The Garibaldi School, James Aldred, Head of School, said: “Despite the potential adversity posed to learners this year, our students have shown great resilience, determination and commitment to their studies. Students have worked tirelessly in lessons and with their teachers throughout the pandemic, both via our online provision and in class, and have risen to the challenge by demonstrating outstanding attitudes to learning. I am really proud of how students have not sought excuses or downed tools, but have been motivated to demonstrate their capabilities.”
