Post office to close for major refurbishment

The Southwell Road Post Office in Mansfield is to close for a month to undergo a major refurbishment to a modernised main branch — including Sunday opening.

There will be three counters, including one new-style, open-plan counter, at the branch at 97 Southwell Road West, Mansfield, which will reopen on Thursday, 24th March at 1pm after closing on Thursday, 25th February at 5.30pm.

The changes will include an extra 26 hours of Post Office services a week.

The branch will open from 9am-5:30pm, Monday to Saturday, with selected Post Office products and services available from a retail counter during the shop opening hours, 7am-6pm, Mondays to Saturdays, and 7am-1pm on Sundays.

Car tax renewal and a selection of on-demand holiday currencies will be added to the wide range of Post Office services on offer, including bill payment, banking, benefits, savings, postage, home-shopping returns, international parcels, special delivery and local collect.

Customers can also send funds abroad using Moneygram and top up mobile phones.
While the post office is closed customers have been advised to use Carter Lane Post Office in Mansfield and the main office in the town centre on Church Street.

Area manager Caroline Pritchard said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail, and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, and will secure services for the future.”
